BIOG'S AND REVIEWS
Stay in the Box 2" has been written about and reviewed by music journalist Dave Chislett. Dave is our Matchbox reviewer, a publicist, music journalist, published author and bass player from Johannesburg, South Africa. He was born in Portsmouth, but he can't help that. Down south in Africa he punts a few bands, plays a few tunes and reviews music from all over the planet for various famous publications. REVIEW OF PARS PETROSA BY DAVE CHISLETT
The second Croatian act on this collection of songs, Pars Petrosa prefers to deviate a bit from the norm than to recreate older, well established styles. Incorporating all sorts of instruments, including native creation stringed instruments, into a basic rock set up, they create a style that is inviting and unique, but recognisable at the same time. The inclusion of a great vocalist with some intriguing lyrics completes the parcel which is one that you’ll be keen to unpack with your ears.

We played in Sax along with a band called Mangroove, who played a great gig... great concert as far as we're concerned – we are pleased, the audience is pleased, and that's the most important thing...
We're especially glad that a lot of people turned up, so Sax was almost completly full (it was very crowded).
See you all at the 19.12. when we're playing in Sax again, on the finals of this festival organised by DB...

LABIN X
2-3 weeks ago we recieved an invitation from our friends the Orange Stripes to play a gig in their home-town (Labin-Istria).
Ofcourse, we accept the invitation and, along with a band called Heroina, we start our little trip through the mountains of Gorski Kotar, through Učka... all the way to the heart of Istria.
After a 3-hour drive and a short tour through the town (read:looking for the club) we menaged to get to the scene of action, where we were welcomed by our friendly hosts. We had no idea people could be this welcoming!!!
And now: ˝greetings an thanks˝
1. to the audience, who were up to the challange... THANK YOU LABIN!
2. to Goran (the guitarist of the Orange Stripes, who was the sound-guy on this gig, and managed to get together a great sound
3. to the organizors: thanks for the free drinks (amazing istrian schnaps mmm...), good quality sound (amps etc.) and to everybody that was involved with the organization of this event.
4. to Heroina: they played first and gave the audience (and us as well) a nice surprise with their 'old school' rock riffs and their psyhodelic ambience... (and the frontmans 'performance' and his flirtation with the audience left no-one indifferent). Make sure to check them out on www.myspace.com/Heroina!
5. to two hip-hop guys from Labin, who came on stage during our improvisations before the concert and did a great free-style for half an hour (amazing feeling)!

SAX (Croatian Musition's Club) 24.10.
Great night, great gig, a lot of laughs, good crew...
Two more bands performed: excellent Headswitch and Why Not from Rijeka.
As far as our performance is concearned, we are very satisfied, too pleased with our sound and the sound in the club. The sound guy knows what he's doing... SEE YOU ON THE 28.11. at 21 o'clock in SAX.

THE DUTCH TOUR (21.6. – 28. 6. 2006.)
As a reporter for a internet music portal called Earbugs (www.earbugs.com) I came along with a young band of six called on latin Pars Petrosa, from Samobor and Bregana, on their tour through Holland. We started the journey in a van emediatly christened to George (by their own song) and our first stop was the Croatian music festival in Bedekovčina, where the band played a good introductory concert for their tour.
After Bedekovčina the journey continues to a World cup soccer match between Croatia and Australia and as a warm welcome we get a 10 kilometer long traffic jam on the entrence to Stuttgart. But, as real musitians, the guys took out a guitar, opened the slidinig door on the van and held a spontanious halfhour acoustic concert for everyone present there on the highway. After watching the game on the main square and fraternising with the supporters of all nationalities, we traded in the bitter taste of defeat with an intoxicating rhytm of underdressed, nicely taned brasilians and their perfect behinds moving in the rhytm of samba, which, as well as the perpetual smile on their joucy lips, made us dance in the brasilian corner looooooong into the night.....
After a 30 hour journey we finally arrive to our little flat in Amsterdam and at the first sight you could tell that this city spreads different, more relaxed vibes that emediatly get under our skin. The bands holds their first concert in a small club in the town of Harlem, only and hour drive away from Amsterdam. Already at the first beats of their alternative musical odissey the club Flinty's filled up and an exellent concert included the singer jumping from the stage into the crowd, his raging shaman dance inside the crowd turning the band into a rock impulse that literally blew away everybodys mind. In that moment as if the bounderies of reality faded away and seased to exist, the audience became a part of the band and, for a moment there, music became the only reason for the existance of this newly created musical family. The Dutsh quickly begun to like the beatnic charm of Pars Petrosa, so after the concert, the party in their honour continued for long even inforont of the club.
Next day the band performend at the Crossroads open-air festival in a nice little town of Kaatsheuvel along with a dosen quality Dutch bands playing various tipes of music, from a melodious ska sound to raw rock'n'roll. Unfortunatly, lasting of the performances was limited to half an hour, so evethough the audience asked for more from these outgoing Croatians, they had to leave the stage after only eight songs.
After a day of rest, wondering the streets of Amsterdam, exploring its romantic allies and canals, as well as making one wrong turn which took us to the darkest parts of the Red Light District, the band headed for the Atlantic, to the sunny beaches that spread indefinitly, in order to hold a concert in a club on the beach, but due to the ever-so-boring rain the concert was postponed – as well as the afternoon open-air concert in Amsterdam.
However, the next day we did see a splash of blue sky, so the acoustic open-air concert did take place after all, in Vondelpark, the largest park in Amsterdam. In a moving audience that was passing us by you could find the most colorful characters. A half-insane poet, policewomen on horses, joggers, bikers, bystanders, they were all co-stars in the theatre of Pars Petrosa on that enormous stage of Vondelpark... We listened to dutch poetry, and as the music was following the melancholy of knowing that this was our final day in Amsterdam, the band pulled their strength together for one final peek and with frozen fingers supremly played a short accoustic concert.
It should also be mentioned that this whole tour would not be possible without the support from the town of Samobor, on which the band thanks them. Thank you dear people!!! BREŽICE (SLOVENIA)
What to say....
The concert was like a pre-contest for Rock Otočec festival....three bands from Brežice were playing...and all in all it was a damn good party...
The winner of the contest was a band called Broken Arrow who allegedly beat us by just one point....anyway, congrats to the guys....
As for the show, the club was packed with people...there was about 20 of us (allong with the band :D) who came from Croatia, the people from Brežice showed us a really good time, no complaints here... good home-grown vine, hospitality, fun and games ;D thanks again
We even had a little bit of pogo in the end, when a band without a bas-player was playing...so we jumped arround a bit, blew off some steam... and Vlajo wouldn't be Vlajo if he hadn't taken over the drums in the middle of their show, just to play some punk with them!!
And a special thanks to Nikica M who was willing to risk his neck for that 'one point incident'....he's alive and well...
The organisation was good so a big tnx to Mare and Bojki...and everybody who helped!
We would also like to thank everybody who came all the way from Bregana, Samobor, Zagreb, London, Barcelona, Kuala Lumpur, Tokio and Vietnam to Brežice to hear us play...
Thanks to all the people who said 'SORRY, BUT THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!'

This gig was yet unseen!! We played in a huge, marbel plastered hall, where the echo was the biggest effect...
People who came to hear us thought we are going to play well-known rock hits, like on some sort of a highschool dance and they played dead during the whole concert...but we did our thing professionaly and with a buzz, as usual...so, no hard feelings...
Thanks to the organizors for a good sound and a big effort to make everything right, eventhough rock'n'roll doesen't go well in this empty town, and people listen to all sorts of crap (hale to the exeptions :D)....all in all – a good field trip!

We played in KSET in front of more than a 100 people... a band called Alias played before us and they did quite a good job. As for our part, we could have done a bit better, but I don't think that anyone noticed :D as we were cheered back on stage for an oncore twice :D All in all, we're very pleased even though it was all in, kind of, a short notice (in our defence hehe)... the crowd was more than great and we're looking forward to seeing you all again!!!
A big thank you to all the staff, who were more than helpfull – we did the sound check for an hour and everybody gave their best... and we would also like to thank Ines and Mucalo (you legend!) this way!!
